Unit 2 Lesson 7 Old Testament
The Potter and the Clay
Theme: Reform
Biblical Basis Jeremiah 18:1-11, 18-20
God told the Prophet Jeremiah to go to the local potter’s house, where he would give Jeremiah a visual lesson. Like a potter who molds and remolds the clay according to his purpose, God himself is the one who makes us into the people that he would have us be.
Additional Text: Romans 9:14-24
Lesson Prayer
Everlasting God, you are the Potter and we are the clay. We give you thanks for molding us and shaping us to fulfill your mission in this sinful world. Use us as your vessels of mercy towards others. Thank you for the love and compassion you pour out upon us. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Memory Verse
The Lord said: “Behold, like the clay in the potter’s hand, so are you in my hand, O house of Israel.” (Jeremiah 18:6)
