"Oh Brother! - The Story of Red and Jake" is an original musical drama written by Scott and Lois Peterson, that tells the story of the two rival brothers, Jacob and Esau, from the Book of Genesis. The musical was designed as the basis for a week long Drama Camp, hosted by a congregation or community, including scripts, sheet music, director's guide, and sample music recordings.

Authors' Description of the Musical Story:
At the heart of Oh, Brother! is the relationship between brothers Esau and Jacob. From the start these two argue and connive which is a prelude to their separate lifelong journeys. Remarkably their relationship dramatically changed in wonderful ways by the conclusion of this story. Before the end the Lord gave Jacob the name 'Israel'. Israel means 'wrestles with God'. We learn that the Lord used even Jacob's lowest times which led up to this transformational renaming. This story shaped the futures for Jews and Gentiles around the world today. A key for us is recognizing how we are like Jacob. He is our brother because we also are born self-centered and wrestle with God throughout our lives. Yet, despite our fallen nature, like Jacob we too have been chosen by our Lord to be children of God. This Good News seals our identity: We are Children of God.

Introducing “Sola Musicals: Drama Camp Resources”

Sola Publishing offers a number of pre-packaged resources for leading a week-long Drama Camp, where children and youth learn and participate in producing a musical drama.  Hosting a Summer Drama Camp operates in a manner similar to a week of Vacation Bible School, held within a congregation or as a program for children and youth of the whole community. It can serve as a great evangelism tool to invite the participation of people from outside the church. Cast lists were originally designed for a camp of roughly 30-40 children, with many speaking and non-speaking roles. However, parts can be easily combined to accommodate a smaller group of children. The week can be structured using half-days or whole days, according to local preference.
